Another video

For everyone that does not get to see Sydney all the time here is a video of her talking ( or her interpitation of talking) but it is really cute. Hope you all like it.

6 weeks old

Can you believe it that Sydney is already 6 weeks old and she is growing like crazy. Sad to say that our little preemie 6 lb Sydney is no longer here. She went through a crazy growth period and gained almost a pound in a week, yep a week. It seriously seemed like she was eating every hour. But we think Sydney is about 7 1/2 - 8 lbs now. Too bad her next doctor appointment is not till the end of November so we are going to have to wait to see how much she really weighs. However, Sydney is getting bigger and bigger and makes new discoveries everyday. She now is starting to hold her head up and use her legs more often now. But the cutest thing that she has started to do is SMILE!!! Yep, my little girl smiles now, and I am not just saying this because she is my daughter but she has the most beautiful smile in the world. However, getting a picture of this smile is proving to be a little bit more challenging, so far she is a little camera shy with her smiles ( which we'll have to change being that I am a photographer). But we love having her in our lives and still can't believe that she is ours and she is finally here. Quinton LOVES to hold her ( and I think that might be an understatement) it seems like he can not get through the door and shower fast enough so he can hold her. If this continues she might never learn to walk. But I love how wonderful of a father Quinton is to Sydney, even though he seems to be more sleep deprived then I am. He changes her diapers, feeds and burps her. Yep, he does it all ladies and sorry he is taken. But sleep deprived or not we both love being parents to this wonderful little girl that has blessed our lives in so many ways.

Sydney's 1st Halloween

Sorry that it has been a while since I last updated our blog, but who knew that having a newborn would be so time consuming. Time consuming or not I love being a mother and Sydney is a wonderful baby ( If I do say so myself). Our ward had a Halloween party and being such a new mom I had to dress Sydney up in a costume. However, finding Halloween costumes for preemie/newborn size is not the easiest thing in the world. Thank goodness Quinton's mom found a preemie costume at ( where else...) Walmart!!! But I do have to say that Sydney was the cutest little pumpkin that I have ever seen. She loved the Halloween party, even though she slept through it all. And to make that night even more special Sydney's best friend Avery ( who is 4 months older then Sydney) dressed up as a tootsie roll and her cousin Addison went as a nija. Thank goodness Avery was not older because I don't think that her cheeks would of fit into the costume. But it was a blast having our friends Tiffany and Justin there with little Avery.I still can't believe that Sydney is now 6 weeks old and we are now entering November. Where does the time go. But we hope you all had a wonderful and safe Halloween.

Aunt Karen's Visit

Last Thursday Quinton's Aunt Karen,Uncle John and family came up for a visit from Wyoming. Even though it was a short 1 day visit it was great to see them. While they were up here they all got to meet Sydney and her cousin Aaron ( who is 6 months now) for the first time. It was a wonderful time to spend with family. Aunt Karen gave Sydney a beautiful baby blanket and little teddy bear called Dainty ( we thought the name was very appropriate considering the size of the bear and Sydney). We all just sat around the hotel room and caught up on what is new in all of our lives. There is nothing better then just sitting around and hanging out with family. We all had a wonderful dinner that Cindy ( Quinton's mom) made for us....mmm it was so good. Even though it was a short visit it was wonderful to see Karen and all of her family again. We are so grateful for all of the family that both Quinton and I have. Thank you again to everyone and we love you all.

2 weeks old

Sydney is now 2 weeks old ( she will actually be 3 weeks on Tuesday), but here are some updated pictures of her. She is getting bigger now, even though it really does not look like it. At her last doctors appointment on Monday she weighed 5 lb 13 oz. So she is getting up there in the world. She is getting more and more alert of her surroundings and loves laying in her moses basket. We just can't believe that she is still here and that she is ours. We are so blessed to have this beautiful little girl in our lives.

Sydney's first bath

When we were all home after a couple of days I decided that it was time for Sydney's first bath. She was not too fond of the idea, however no matter what she was going to get clean. I just think she looks cute in her little bath towel.

Here is a video of Sydney's first bath. For the first time I learned the difference between her hungry and mad cry. However, after a little bit she stopped crying and actually looked like she was enjoying it ( well for the most part). I do have to say that this little girl has no fat on her so far. The newest arrival to our family...

Okay, here is the long awaited story about our precious Sydney. It all started on 3 pm on Monday Sept. 24, Quinton and I went to my routine Doctors Apt. to do some routine tests on me. They kept on seeing some dips in Sydney's heart rate that made no sense and my blood pressure was high and rising. So after a while they decided to send us over to the hospital for some "prolonged monitoring" as they called it. After some more tests and hours later they decided to induce me at 11:30 pm. They gave me a drug at midnight that thinned out my cervix ( which this drug can also put you into labor). At 5 am. I can remember feeling some sharp pains in my stomach and by 6 am. I was in full blown labor. At first it actually was not that bad. However, at 9:45 am they checked my cervix again and discovered that I was 4 cm dilated. At that time I decided that I could not take anymore and requested the Epidural. I was just proud of my self for making it to 4 cm without drugs. After receiving the Epidural ( which is a experience in itself) I could not stay awake at all ( I know that sounds weird but I really could not stay awake). So Quinton and I took a hour nap. After our wonderful nap the nurses checked my cervix again at 11:30 am. And you guessed it, I was 10 cm dilated. So between 10 - 11:30 am I dilated from 4- 10 cm and I slept through it all. At noon I started pushing, and pushing and some more pushing. One hour went by, still more pushing, then 2 hours went by, still more pushing. My body could not take all that pushing, I was physically exhausted and found myself sleeping in between contractions. I was trying my hardest to stay awake but could not for the life of me. So since I could not stay awake the nurses finally decided to let me sleep for 15 min. Finally after 2 1/2 hours ( almost 3 depends on who you talk to) the nurses called in the doctor. With 2 big pushes and some help from a vacuum little Sydney Malia Montgomery was born at 2:46 pm on Tuesday Sept 25, 2007. Weighing 5 lb 11 1/2 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. Sydney had some troubles entering this world. She really was not breathing for about 5 min. after she was born. I just remember a lot of people were working with her to help her breathe. I saw her for about 10 seconds before they rushed her to the NICU. Her poor little body and especially her head was hurting terribly. After being stabilized you just heard a little whiper coming from this even smaller body. She hurt so bad. Unfortunately Sydney had such a traumatic experience coming to this world and many little problems that the nurses took extreme precautions with her. She was on IV fluid for 2 days even before they introduced my milk to her. To make a very long story shorter, Sydney was in the NICU for 5 days. We all came home from the hospital on Monday Oct.1. She is doing better and better everyday now. She is as beautiful as ever and I can not believe on how I love something so much instantly. Quinton and I just look at her all the time in amazement that she is ours. I can not possibly imagine my life without. So far all 11 days of motherhood have been wonderful. Quinton and I would just like to thank everyone for all of your phone calls, visits and prayers. I know that Sydney is doing as well as she is with only help from our lord and Savior. We all hope you all are doing well and we will keep you posted on Sydney's progress.

Okay, so Quinton does not know that I am doing this but here is a video of him playing his guitar when my sister and her family was here. I think that he is absolutely awesome but he'll probably say he is alright. Hope you all enjoy it and i will try to get a better video up in a bit.

Labor Day

I can't believe that it is September already!!! Quinton and I had a great Labor Day we spent the morning with our friends Justin, Tiffany and their beautiful 3 month old daughter Avery. It was just nice to hang out and have some fun. I think that Quinton just liked to sit and have some "man talk" with Justin. While the men were relaxing Tiffany and I were making a incredible cake. MMM it was so good. After spending the afternoon with our friends Quinton and I went to his parents house for some dinner (which was excellent as well). We just ate, talked, did some more relaxing and talked some more. It truly was a great day to have with Quinton before the baby comes. Speaking of the baby, I am 36 weeks now ( 4 more to go!!!). Sydney is getting bigger and stronger. I am starting to become uncomfortable, but not miserable yet. However, I am getting there real soon. I know that the waking up constantly in the middle of the night is just preparation for when she gets here. But as I get bigger, Quinton get more and more excited. He loves to just leave his hands on my belly and feel her move all around. I think that it is her way of saying hello to her daddy.
